Dua Lipa is currently being tipped to record the theme song for the next James Bond movie.
It’s been a runaway 24 months of success for the singer. She was recently named as the most successful female artist of the year so far – with her self-titled debut shifting 95,000 copies in 2018, and her massive single ‘IDGAF’ notching up 509,000 combined sales. Her video for ‘New Rules’ broke records after it was viewed over 1billion times on Youtube.
Her huge new single ‘One Kiss’ with Calvin Harris went straight in at No.1, and she’s also been confirmed to perform at the UEFA Champion’s League final, and now it looks like her relentless ascent will see her join the pop pantheon of stars to record the theme for 007.
As Capital FM reports, Dua Lipa is currently leading ahead of Adele, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J as bookmakers’ favourite to lay down the track for the upcoming 25th Bond movie – which is due for release in November.
However, last year Sheeran revealed that he already has a song prepared.
“With Bond, I’ve had a theme tune written for about three years, just in case,” he said. Asked what it was called, he said: “I’m not going to say because someone might steal it. But it’s good, it’s good.”
Recent James Bond songs have been performed by the likes of Sam Smith, Adele, Jack White and Alicia Keys. Beyonce has also reportedly been in talks to be involved.
The next James Bond film will be directed by Trainspotting’s Danny Boyle, and will see Daniel Craig return once again for the titular role.
