“Please bequest my last request,” she sings
Frances Bean Cobain has teased a brand new song, singing a short teaser in a post on Instagram.
Frances captioned the new clip with the lyrics of the song: “Please bequest my last request for duty calls me and she says come hither” You can watch it below.
Earlier this year, the singer said she thinks of herself as both a musician and a visual artist, adding that she she wants to release something “palpable” in the future when it comes to music.
“With regards to music, I don’t want to pigeon hole myself and say I am a musician or a visual artist because I feel like it’s all encompassing and I feel like every bit of my art is related to the other,” she said.
“So do I want to pursue my music further and see it come to fruition and see something further and see something palpable? Absolutely. Do I want to say that was an official release? No, it was an Instagram post.”
When asked what her late father would think of her diving into a music career, Frances replied: “I don’t have an answer for that because I don’t want to speak on someone else’s behalf. I would hope that he would be proud of the human being I am even if he didn’t like the art I am putting out. That’s all I would ask of anyone in my life.”
Frances marked the anniversary of her father’s death with another song back in April. The clip sees Cobain sing: “I think I saw you when I was small/ I think I found you/ A penny for your good thoughts/ I think I found you/Jesus hangs in your place on the cross/ All these hinges become unscrewed/ Heaven knows it was a cage on earth.”
Frances also revealed some other lyrics from the track in a comment to fans. Those read: “Stable sable sold her heart/No one asks her why she hides in a basket in her house in a box/Find a fiend who reigns supreme in May/Fast enough for blooming buds to lay their egg.”
