Ariana Grande’s fiancé Pete Davidson criticised for ‘disgusting’ Manchester Arena bombing joke

The ‘SNL’ star made the joke in one of his stand-up routines

Ariana Grande‘s fiancé Pete Davidson has come under fire for a joke he made about the Manchester Arena bombing.

On May 22, 2017, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device while fans were leaving Grande’s concert at the venue. The attack killed 22 people and injured 59.

According to the Mirror, SNL comedian Davidson joked about the bombing during one of his stand-up routines at LA’s Laugh Factory five months after the incident. He reportedly said Grande must know how famous she had become because “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”

Charlotte Hodgson, whose 15-year-old daughter Olivia Campbell-Hardy was killed in the attack, told the paper: “For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should publicly apologise for it. The families will find it equally as disgusting.”

She continued: “We don’t need jokes about it, there have been plenty around, and it’s heartbreaking to hear every day. But for someone so famous to be doing it and now to be with Ariana, it’s outrageous. I think she would be horrified too.”

Neither Davidson or Grande have commented on the reports at the time of writing.

The couple recently celebrated the pop star’s 25th birthday by doing karaoke in New York. The pair duetted on Evanescence’s ‘Bring Me To Life’, while Grande also performed a Beyoncé cover and Davidson rapped along to Eminem.
