Greta Gerwig could reunite with ‘Lady Bird’ stars for new project

Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet are in talks to star in the director’s next film

Greta Gerwig could be reunited with two of the stars of Lady Bird on her next project.

Gerwig wrote and directed the Golden Globe-winning coming-of-age movie, which saw Saoirse Ronan appear as the titular character, alongside Timothee Chalamet, Beanie Feldstein, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, and more.

Now, the director is set to helm a remake of Little Women, which was previously adapted from Louisa May Alcott’s book in 1994. Ronan and Chalamet are in talks to appear in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while some other big names have also been linked to the film.

Reports suggest Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, and Florence Pugh are all in discussions to take parts in the movie, which will follow sisters Amy, Jo, Beth, and Meg, and their mother in Civil War-era Massachusetts.

The 1994 movie adaptation of the novel starred Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon, and Kirsten Dunst. A TV adaptation aired earlier this year and starred Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman’s daughter, Maya Hawke.

Earlier this year, Gerwig joined a number of Hollywood stars who expressed regret over working with Woody Allen. The filmmaker has long been accused of sexually assaulting his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was seven years old. Allen has always denied the claims and no charges have been brought against him.
