Chris Pratt says it’s “not an easy time” after James Gunn’s sacking

“We just want to move forward”

Chris Pratt has said that it’s “not an easy time” for him and the rest of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ cast after the franchise’s future was cast in doubt by the sacking of director James Gunn.

Disney cut ties with the director of the first two ‘Guardians’ films shortly after tweets from 2008 and 2009  in which he seemingly jokes about rape and paedophilia were brought to light by conservative website The Daily Caller.

In a new interview with the Associated Press, Pratt said: “It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be.”

Pratt described the experience of hearing the news while at Comic-Con, saying: “I ended up not doing a lot of interviews around that time just because it was so shocking.”

Of a joint open letter protesting the decision by the chief ‘Guardians’ cast posted online, he continued: “All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel.”
