DC Comics bosses express regret after new Batman comic showed the Caped Crusader’s penis for the first time

“There were some production errors that led to the book being published the way it was”.

DC Comics bosses have admitted their regret in publishing a new Batman comic that showed the Caped Crusader’s penis.

Last month, DC Comics launched a new string of titles called DC Black Label, with the aim of creating comics that will appeal to a mature audience.

One of the first stories to emerge was ‘Batman: Damned’, which sees him facing off against John Constantine – but it just so happens to also include what appears be a brief view of  Bruce Wayne’s penis, as seen below.

Although visible in the print edition of ‘Batman: Damned’, DC still remained cautious – as it was almost entirely darkened in online versions of the comic.

Now, DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio have admitted that they weren’t entirely happy with the title, after it provided divisive among fans.

Speaking at New York Comic Con, Lee told Polygon: “I think we made some choices after it went out and there were some production errors that led to the book being published the way it was… that ended up being a big story.

Explaining how the story had taught them to be more cautious, he added: “It’s made us, certainly, look at what Black Label is and think about whether these elements are additive to the story. And that’s something that we’ll be mindful of going forward, because I don’t think we want necessarily a repeat of what happened with the first issue.”

Meanwhile, we saw our first glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix last month, ahead of his title role in a darkened prequel that is set to arrive in October next year.
