Migos’ Offset has released the first track off his upcoming solo album. The single, “Red Room,” is available now via streaming services like Spotify and Google Play. The fast-talking hip-hop number sees Offset reflecting on his upbringing and past, rhyming about his family members (including a line about missing his grandma’s cooking).
Offset’s album will drop December 14th via Quality Control Music/Motown Records/Capitol. The rapper has yet to confirm a title. This release will mark the third solo album from a member of Migos this year, following Quavo’s QUAVO HUNCHO and Takeoff’s The Last Rocket.
The rapper spoke with The New York Times earlier this week about his career and his home life with Cardi B. In the interview, Offset said starting a family with Cardi has changed his perspective on things. “I have a wife and a child — that changed my whole everything,” he told the Times. “I was a young hothead, but now I understand the value of life.” Offset also said that he feels some pressure to match his partner’s massive success. “She brings excitement and pressure to me, but I like that,” Offset said. “She’s No. 1, so every time I’m hitting the charts, I’ve got to be Top 10.”
The best revelation from the interview is Offset’s mother Latabia noting he was once a back-up dancer for Whitney Houston and TLC. The rapper can be seen performing in Houston’s video for “Whatchulookinat,” which he confirmed on Instagram.
