Title for ‘Doctor Who’ New Year’s Day special revealed

They reckon it follows a long-running pattern

The title for the Doctor Who New Year’s Day special has been revealed, but fans think there’s more to it than the BBC are saying.

In the Christmas special of the Radio Times, the festive special of the long-running TV show is listed under the title ‘Resolution’.

However, fans have a theory that that is merely the first word in a longer title, specifically ‘Resolution Of The Daleks’.

If viewers are correct, it would follow a long-running pattern in Doctor Who episode titles. In 2007, an episode aired called ‘Evolution Of The Daleks’, while another followed in 2010 called ‘Victory Of The Daleks’. In the original run of seasons between 1963 and 1989, there were also episodes titled ‘Planet Of The Daleks’ and ‘Genesis Of The Daleks’, amongst others.

The New Year’s Day special will air at 7pm and will run for one hour.

Meanwhile, Jodie Whittaker recently confirmed she will be reprising the role of The Doctor in season 12 of the hit show. The actor joined the show for season 11, becoming the first women to play the iconic character in the programme’s history.

“I really can’t wait to step back in and get to work again,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s such an incredible role. It’s been an extraordinary journey so far and I’m not quite ready to hand it over yet.”

However, it has yet to be confirmed whether Whittaker’s co-stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill will return for the next series.
