Some of the original dinosaur battlers get together at Critics’ Choice awards
Stars of the original Jurassic Park have staged a mini-reunion at the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony.
Laura Dern and Joseph Mazzello starred together in the 1993 classic.
They met up at the ceremony in Los Angeles, with Dern posting a selfie of their encounter on her Instagram page. Dern wrote: “Jurassic Park is alive at the Critics’ Choice Awards.”
The pair met up at the ceremony, which is held at Barker Hangar inside Santa Monica Airport in California, because Dern was nominated for Best Actress for her role as sexual abuse survivor Jennifer Fox in HBO drama The Tale. Mazzello plays Queen bassist John Deacon in Bohemian Rhapsody, which was also nominated.
Mazzello was just nine when he appeared in Jurassic Park as park owner John Hammond’s grandson Tim Murphy. The child star got his first break three years earlier in Harrison Ford thriller Presumed Innocent and had also appeared in CS Lewis biopic Shadowlands before starring in Jurassic Park.
He also appeared in Jurassic Park: The Lost World in 1997 and has since enjoyed a career in films such as The Social Network and GI Joe: Retaliation.
Dern’s Best Actress nomination for The Tale meant she was the first actress to be nominated for a TV movie rather than a cinema release at Critics’ Choice since 2012.
