Post Malone was in a metal band before his career as a chart-topping hip-hop star.
Ashley’s Arrival was seemingly the band that Posty was a guitarist in during his high school years. In a clip filmed in 2010, Malone (real name Austin Post) is believed to be seen shredding and striking a crabcore pose while covering Asking Alexandria’s ‘The Final Episode (Let’s Change Channel)’.
Andy Leo, the singer in the metalcore band Crown The Empire, also revealed in an interview with AltPress in 2016 that Posty auditioned to be the guitarist in his band in 2010. But Malone’s string broke during the audition and he wasn’t asked to join the band.
Malone’s apparent SoundCloud account features several songs that date back as far as 2012.

Malone tours the UK and Ireland in February and March (grab your tickets here). In August, he co-headlines Reading and Leeds Festival with Twenty One Pilots.
He also recently released the song ‘Sunflower’, a collaboration with Rae Sreummurd’s Swae Lee, which features on the soundtrack to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
Earlier this month the pair unveiled the black-and-white video for the track, which shows the collaborators at work in the studio.
