“In case you’re wondering what kind of album we’re making”
Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has updated fans about the progress of the metallers’ forthcoming record with a bloody photograph.
Weinberg yesterday (January 18) shared a picture of a bloodied snare drum, writing: “In case you’re wondering what kind of album we’re making.”
The blood presumably dripped off the drummer’s hands while he was recording takes for Slipknot’s sixth album, which is expected to drop this year. The Iowa metalheads are back in the studio with producer Greg Fidelman.
Frontman Corey Taylor has said that the new record will be “one of the darkest chapters in Slipknot’s history” and “a cross between the first album and Iow,” so Weinberg’s graphic photo comes as little surprise.
Meanwhile, Taylor also revealed recently that he’s considering making a “dark jazz album” in the future.
Speaking to RadioVegas.Rocks’ Chaotic Radio earlier this month, the vocalist responded to a question about his interest in experimenting with different musical genres. He said: “I’ve actually been thinking about…putting together a quartet or a quintet and doing a jazz album, like a dark jazz album and recording it in a room.
“It won’t sell shit. It would really just be for my own personal collection. I love jazz. A lot of people don’t realise that. I listen to a lot of forties and fifties jazz.”
