‘Bodyguard’ star Keeley Hawes asks if she’s returning for series 2 alongside Richard Madden in Comic Relief spoof

“Do you know if I’m in series two?”

She starred as controversial politician Julia Montague in last year’s hit BBC drama Bodyguard before being killed off in an explosion.

But now Keeley Hawes has appeared alongside her co-star Richard Madden for a spoof of the hit show in aid of Comic Relief.

In the clip, she’s found hiding in the boot of her bodyguard’s car, before asking, “Do you know if I’m in series two?”

Madden, who played David Budd in the series, bluntly replies, “You’re dead,” before his co-star cryptically replies, “Am I?”

The clip plays on fans’ suspicions that the character was never really killed off in the fourth episode of the drama.

You can watch the clip – which aired as part of 2019’s Comic Relief last night (15 March) – below.

The fundraiser also aired a ‘sequel’ sketch to Four Weddings and A Funeral reuniting the original cast for the first time in 25 years alongside actresses Lily James and Alicia Vikander. The fundraising evening is said to have made £63 million for the charity.

Bodyguard star Richard Madden has previously confirmed he’s in talks for a second series of the hit show and was planning a meeting with creator Jed Mercurio.

In October, the actor said: “I’m going to meet Jed in a couple of weeks, to have a chat and see what’s next in his brilliant brain.

“So, I’m like, what can happen next? You know, with David. Because he had a hell of a couple of months there. Where do you go with this guy?”

The show debuted on the BBC last August, where it received the highest viewing figures for the BBC for a new drama in the last decade. Creator Mercurio has also claimed the show could have up to four more series, while Netflix recently snapped up the first series.

Since his turn on the show, it’s been speculated that Madden could be in the running to be the next James Bond.
