Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has revealed how he almost lost a testicle while filming a dramatic dragon sequence.
The show returned for its final season on Sunday night, with the first episode ‘Winterfell’ showing the moment that Jon Snow finally rode a dragon for the first time.
While visually impressive, Harington revealed that things almost went very wrong as he filmed the scene on a mechanical buck.
“Buck work is not easy,” Harington explained in a behind-the-scenes video.
“I think what sums up the buck for me was there was a bit where Jon almost falls off. The dragon swings around really violently, like this, and my right ball got trapped, and I didn’t have time to say, ‘Stop!’ and I was being swung around.
“In my head, I thought, ‘This is how it ends, on this buck, swinging me around by the testicles, literally’.”
Ouch. Thankfully, it seems that the situation was remedied before things went seriously wrong.
Meanwhile, Harington recently offered a curt response to critics who were less than impressed with the first episode.
“I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here – but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgment on it, in my head they can go fuck themselves,” Harington told Esquire.
Meanwhile, Chinese GoT fans have expressed their anger at the season premiere being censored in their country. Elsewhere, the staggering numbers of what went into making the new season have been shared.
