George RR Martin won’t say when the next ‘Game of Thrones’ book will be released

“It’ll be done when it’s done”

Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has refused to say when his next book will be finished.

The 70-year-old writer behind the A Song Of Fire And Ice series, the first volume of which is A Game of Thrones, has ruled out providing a provisional release date because he never meets his deadlines.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Martin explained: “I have no date. I’ve given up on giving dates because I give one and then I miss it and everybody gets mad. It’ll be done when it’s done.”

But he added: “It’s been going very well lately so, knock wood.”

Martin’s epic fantasy novels, of which he’s written five of the intended seven volumes, have sold more than 70 million copies worldwide.

HBO’s hit TV series Game of Thrones, which is based on Martin’s books, returned for its eight and final season on Sunday (April 14).

Kit Harington, who portrays Jon Snow in the series, has hit out at critics of the show following the premiere of the new season.

Responding to negative verdicts of the ‘Winterfell’ episode, he explained how he remains “defiant” about the show.

“I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here – but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgment on it, in my head they can go fuck themselves,” Harington told Esquire.

In other GoT news, fans in China are dismayed about the season premiere being censored in their country.
